Easy read and a lot of info seem to contradict each other to me but great read through. My eyes are not what they used to be (thanks to micro chainmailling!!) so if you are like me click the link then either select download (you will need to login but you can use facebook to login) or the bottom right hand corder has a “Full” link that will allow you to see it full screen.
I poke into Etsy every so often for various reasons. So sometimes I’m in there a lot and other times it’s once in a blue moon. The other day I had an email saying I had a convo so of course I poked right on in to find one of my items was included in a Treasury. What got my attention though was the theme. It was based on places CTMercantile had lived in their lives and well one of those places is my current residence…in fact not to far from where I live. Artists truely live in a small world.
We thought it would be fun to find Etsians in the places we’ve lived (right from the start) pretty much in order, to where we are together now. So much talent in this world!

That’s right I want you to make something that just would not cross a normal person’s mind. I want you to get creative with cheese (feel free to replace cheese with another word). In this treasury on Etsy the curator Girlie Goodies By Meg has my Swiss Cheese Bracelet. That’s right a cheese bracelet. Scroll down a take a look at it. OK so now you know it’s not made of real swiss cheese but those sterling silver pieces sure look like it don’t it? What’s funny is when I bought them at a show the person working the table kept saying “those are nicely decorated square links” and all I could do was giggle because I knew I was going to make a Swiss Cheese Bracelet because there is this little piece of my creative soul that likes silly and goofy things. Come on now embrace your goofy creative soul and create something with cheese!
Who doesn’t love cheese! Enjoy!

I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m having trouble starting or finishing any of my jewelry projects or should I say the ideas in my head. I know I’m a procrastinator but that is putting a title on me. What makes me that person? I pick up a piece of copper wire or a focal bead and start thinking I could use this for that or for this or…or…or…if I combine that idea from last week and the one from last night and add that little do0dad I saw online that I should of bought when I saw it, oh what was the name of that artist or their shop? GASP…I don’t know what the doodad was even called but I can picture it in my head sort of…Does this sound like you?
I’m a Procrastinator because I have Idea Overload. We are talking not even designs overload cause I can’t get past the ideas. Just a mish mash of ideas floating around that pop in my head all the time. I used to think an artist always has ideas floating around in their head cause well lets face it they are creative. They whip out wonderful ideas with little effort right? They are not anal folks that need to write everything down, create trails for ideas and doodads are they? Well I’m finding from talking to fellow artists that they carry around a little magic book to sketch out ideas, write down thoughts, note a cool doodad that they are not sure if they want it but just in case…some keep folders in the computer for “inspiration” pictures because they like the colors used, the clasp would look great with that idea they scribbled in their magic book. Why do they do it? To get it out of their head and free their mind to be creative. Really not a new concept is it? If you can’t sleep because something is on your mind they say write it down and you will sleep like a baby because you put your mind at ease. So what did I do today? I bought my own magic book at a dollar store of all places. Something on the small side to fit in my purse and I have my favorite marker in the spiral binding so I won’t have the excuse of nothing to write with. I guess I need to stop writing here and start pulling those ideas out of my head so I can finally get creating.
This is a beautiful colleciton of luscious lilac items that have been beautiful curated and complement each other beautifull. You could pair all the items together and have a whole outfit, well ok no shoes but hey go unconvetional and be barefoot and fashionable!!

Second in the alpha treasury series where to entice my 6 year old to learn her abc’s she thinks of words to go with that letter. B I was expecting ball, baby, and bagels but she threw me for a loop with Boloney and Burps!!

Working on the alphabet with my 6 year old and taking the words she comes up with to find items to match. OK so “Auntie” was a bit of a challenge…

I’ve been looking at my Etsy shop My Silver Toes and thinking I need something. It took me some time to decide what I need and I think it is color. Something to draw you in. Something to build a logo around. Something to use on a business card. Get my drift? So I went on another research quest and found this great article Color Psychology and Marketing that discusses the various colors and what kind of moods and meanings they create. Now the big question for me and really any shop owner is what kind of setting do you want to create? What kind of mood do you want to instill? For example black can represent power, authority, and if you think about it if you are going out what dress do you tend to reach for? Yup the little black dress because we feel we look thinner so we end up being more confident. But look at the flip side of black. It can represent evil (bad guys seem to always wear black) and death. A color that has really drawn me in lately is orange. Now when I was little I would of run for the hills then admit I like orange and really when you read about orange it’s the most flamboyant color and represents happy days and fun filled times. I guess when I was younger I was so concerned about how others thought of me that now I strive to be my own person. To stand out in a crowd and really I sort of don’t care if you like how I am dressed. I have a spring in my step and ready to jump into the next thing. Now do I theme my shop around orange? I’m not sure. Perhaps a combination of orange and another color but I am torn because my items are a bit more on the high end currently . If I start sliding over to the more whimsy color of orange will that influence what I make? Well according to the color theory it will. Perhaps it’s time for me to throw caution to the wind and unleash my orange self.
